The "Marina Village" concept is an array of mixed use facilities, with
restaurants, residential, office, and marina related structures, which
are intended to interact dynamically with one another. Gone are the
days of the marina as boat parking lot. Today's marinas are upscale
destinations where boaters and tourists alike dine, shop, socialize,
conduct business, and entertain. The new marinas are green and clean.
They are environmentally sensitive and have new technologies that
improve the general quality of the water inside their boundaries to be
cleaner than the water outside.
Urban planners worldwide are excited about using a marina as the
centerpiece of a residential and shopping community, because they are
high producers of jobs, recreation opportunities, easily managed
residential communities, and increased city and county revenue. This
marina village, known as Mathias Island at Fortune Bay, is the marina
of the future. It is the template by which whole communities will be
built throughout the United States, and the world. It is the melding
of Modern Man and his environment.
