It's 5:15 and you are booked on a 7:00 flight. You're listening to the
morning news and the traffic report announces a 3 car accident on the
freeway. Two lanes are blocked and the
morning traffic is backed up for miles. The Highway Patrol
will be blocking the freeway entirely to clean up.
Sparing all your concern for the accident victims and none for your
schedule, you are confident that the report
will have no impact on your trip to the airport. You grab your luggage
and head out the front door. You turn left, walk 50 feet to the elevators,
and take the express to the building's Mezzanine floor. Within three
minutes, you're sitting on the airport express train. Five minutes after
that you're pressed gently back in your seat as the sleek and silent
monorail rounds the corner
onto the main line that runs north along I-5 and accelerates to its
cruising speed of 140 miles per hour.
Nine minutes after you left your home, you're stepping into the airport
terminal.
